Thank You Books

Thank You Books are a series of free “One Sheet Wonder” books that I designed as keepsakes or giveaways. All are free, open-edition books that you can download, print, cut and fold yourself. Complete instructions are included on each PDF. For best results, print on 11 x 17 inch either text weight or card stock paper per the step-by-step instructions on each PDF. You could also reduce to fit on letter-size paper for an even smaller miniature book.

Thank You Book #7 – The 7 Habits of Highly Creative Book & Paper Artists

I’m a huge fan of artist exchanges. Not only are they a creative prompt but also a deadline. Without a deadline, my attention drifts to anything but my creative practice. So, when the terrifically-talented collage artist Mara Krumins organized a Creative Challenge for PaperWorks, I knew I had to participate. This One Sheet Wonder is my response. Click here to download a free PDF of The 7 Habits of Highly Creative Book & Paper Artists one-sheet-sheet-wonder booklet. It’s a fun take on the classic Stephen Covey productivity book and lists my favorite resources for book and paper artist in 7 “habit” categories. Print it out and follow the instructions to fold the sheet into a little “Hidden Book” or Zine format.

Thank You Book #6 – Take Me, I’m Yours

This book was created as a keepsake for the 2019 College Book Arts Association meeting in Tucson, Arizona. It features photos and text excerpted from my limited-edition artist book of the same title. This classic one-sheet fold goes by many names including: cross fold, x-fold, zine fold. Click here to download a PDF of this book.

Thank You Book #5 – Celebrating Hedi Kyle’s Book, The Art of the Fold

Thank You Book #5 celebrates the 2018 release of Hedi Kyle’s book, The Art of the Fold, which she wrote with her daughter, Ulla Warchol. Hedi has been a huge inspiration since I first discovered book arts in 1997. This book uses Hedi’s “Interlocking Loops” structure. Click here to download a PDF of this book.

Thank You Book #4 – Sandra Kroupa Tunnel Book

Thank You Book #4 debuted at a beautiful event celebrating Sandra Kroupa and her 50 year anniversary working in the Special Collections Library at the University of Washington. The tunnel book structure was adapted from a design by Ed Hutchins. Click here to download a PDF of this book.

Thank You Book #3 – Go to Your Studio and Make Something!

Thank You Book #3 is meandering around. When flat it reads “Go to Your Studio and Make Something!” If you follow the instructions it will fold into a miniature “meander” book, a fun accordion structure that snakes back and forth. This thank you book was created as a keepsake for the 2018 Paper and Book Intensive (PBI) at Ox-Bow in Saugatuck, Michigan. Click here to download a PDF of this book.
