I’m a huge fan of artist exchanges. Not only are they a creative prompt but also a deadline. Without a deadline, my attention drifts to anything but my creative practice. So, when the terrifically-talented collage artist, and my good friend, Mara Krumins organized a “Creative Challenge” for PaperWorks, I knew I had to participate. The theme was “Recipes for Life” and this One Sheet Wonder is my response.
PaperWorks, based here in my new home town of Tucson, Arizona is a very impressive organization. With several hundred members, this active, prolific group of artists with interests ranging from book arts to calligraphy to paper quilling, watercolors and everything in between, is one of the most well-run, friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic groups I’ve every joined.
Click here to download a free PDF of The 7 Habits of Highly Creative Book & Paper Artists one-sheet-sheet-wonder booklet. It’s a fun take on the classic Stephen Covey productivity book and lists my favorite resources for book and paper artist in 7 “habit” categories. Print it out and follow the instructions to fold the sheet into a little “Hidden Book” or Zine format.
Special thanks to Jade Quek for her help on this project. She curates the amazingly-comprehensive Book & Paper Arts Newsletter, which is a monthly email and calendar with book arts workshop listings, exhibitions to see, things to do, call for entries and more. Subscribe here.
Happy Creating!
Laura
